Cenar Tutoring is run by college students in Fairfax, Virginia. We tutor high school students, so we keep the information we collect to what we need, and we do not sell it. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: cenartutoring@gmail.com.
What we collect
- When you book a consultation: the parent's name, email and phone number, the student's name, email, phone number, grade and school, a target test date, and anything you tell us.
- When a student has a practice account: name, email address, a password (stored by our login provider in scrambled form, never readable by us), which practice modules they can use, and their practice test answers, timing and scores.
- Basic technical data that any website receives, such as the browser type and the date and time of a visit, in our hosting provider's logs.
How we use it
- To reply to consultation requests and to schedule and run tutoring.
- To run the practice portal: save progress, score tests, and show students and their tutors the results.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use it to track students across other websites.
Who can see a student's results
A student's practice answers, timing and results are visible to that student's assigned Cenar tutor and to Cenar's administrators. The student sees their answer and score report once their tutor opens it. We do not share results with schools, colleges or anyone else unless the parent or guardian asks us to.
Who else handles it
We use a few trusted services to run the site. They process the data for us, and their servers are in the United States:
- Supabase (practice accounts and the database): privacy policy
- Resend (the email that delivers consultation requests to us): privacy policy
- Calendly (scheduling the free consultation): privacy policy
- Our website hosting provider
If we add another service that handles personal information, we will list it here.
Cookies
The practice portal uses only the cookies it needs to keep a student logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Practice progress is also saved in your browser so a test can be resumed.
Students under 13, and parents' rights
Cenar is for high school students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
A parent or guardian can ask to see the information we hold about their child, correct it, delete it, or tell us to stop collecting it. Email cenartutoring@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may ask a few questions first to confirm who is asking.
How long we keep it
We keep consultation details and practice results while a family is working with us, and for up to 24 months after the last session. After that we delete them, or sooner if you ask.
Security and breaches
We protect the portal with logins, encrypted connections and strict limits on who can see a student's results. No website can promise perfect security. If personal information is exposed in a way that could harm you, we will tell the affected families promptly, as the law requires.
